SUZANNE CIANI AND THE WAVE is a full-length concert feature, available in both standard and pledge versions. A five-time Grammy nominee with over a million album sales on major and independent record labels, Suzanne Ciani is a successful composer of modern music that is relaxing, inspirational, and soothing.
This one-hour performance was recorded in San Francisco at the historic Herbst Theatre to a sold-out audience of devoted fans. Ciani commands the stage on piano and keyboards, accompanied by her stellar group, The Wave, which includes Grammy-winning Paul McCandless on oboe, English horn, sax, and clarinet; Michael Manring, of Windham Hill fame, on fretless bass; Matt Eakle of the Dave Grisman Quintet on flutes. And in addition, Teja Bell is featured on guitar, including a stirring Spanish acoustic; Jeremy Cohen plays violin; Doug Harman plays cello; and Kalani -- best known to the public television audience from his dynamic performance with YANNI Live At the Acropolis -- handles percussion.
The visuals of the production are elegant and moving, capturing the magical softness of this evening. We become enchanted with Cianis brilliant solo work as well as the kinetic energy of her interactions with her band. There are costume and lighting changes -- and always the palpable love of her live audience. From the theatre, the performances segue into Suzannes organic discussion of the music from her seaside studio, where she talks about art and life.
The music set includes Suzannes biggest hit, The Velocity of Love -- in a quintessential playlist that connects with emotion, romance, serenity, nature, healing, aesthetics, and the emotions of her audience. The beauty of the program is an extension of her own natural beauty, inside and out. I am confident that your audience will find this show a welcome addition to your programming.
